What is the best makeup for acne prone skin?

Q. I am looking for a makeup that is all natural, oil free, and good for acne prone skin. Also, it has to be light wait because I hate it when I feel like I have a pound of butter on my face, if you know what I mean!! Thanks for any suggestions!
Oh yeah, just wanted to say, I don't Have acne, I have acne Prone skin. But a makeup that won't make me break out please!

A. I've never tried it myself but have heard alot about Dermablend, meant to be really good! Also you might want to try mineral makeup, it's a powder, but offers full coverage, whilst feeling lightweight, and as the name suggests it is made entirely from minerals so would be great for your skin! There's alot of different brands making this both high street brands and premium brands. I know clinique do a good range and also other types of makeup which contain salycilic acid and are free from oils (look out for makeup and creams that are non comedogenic, this basically means non pore clogging, which is what you want!

Have you visited the doctor about your acne? There are so many treatments available, so please do not suffer unnecessarily as I know how annoying acne is! Good luck.

How long does it take to get rid of acne using tea tree oil?
Q. Ok um I am using two tbls of tea tree oil, and nine tbls of water! So if u can how long will it take to get rid of my acne using this remide¿?¿ I use it twice a day! And thanks in return!

A. It is not very helpful I am afraid. You could try one of the many over the counter cleanser/degreasers, most are based on peroxide, Panoxyl is a typical example. If this fails the next step is to see your GP for topical or oral antibiotics. Avoid tetracycline and oxytetracyline as they are awkward to take and not very effective, minocycline or lymecycline are better.

How likely is it that a child will inherit diabetes and arthritis?

Q. What are the chances of a child inheriting arthritis and type 1 diabetes? There are heart murmurs in the family too, could that be hereditary? Thanks in advance!

A. If the mother is the carrier then it is very likely the child especially a boy will have inherited diabetes. Arthritis is most definitely an inherited disability. Heart murmurs, if a family trait then those too. However in these times none of these are live threatening as long you take medical help

How to ease arthritis pain in foot?
Q. I suffer from swollen bone behind big toe, old injury which has osteo arthritis now - podiatrists says hallux limitus, and taking glucosamine and chondritin, with little relief, sore when I walk. Wearing orthotics too. Any other natural remedies I could try? Doctor not very helpful. I am swimming but miss the walking.

A. I'm in tune with you, and I suggest you take an allergy pill before you go to bed. Take the one that compares to Benedryl, because it's much cheaper than Benedryl , and it's available at Kroger and many other places. Osteoarthritis is caused by worn-out joints and is not to be confused with rheumatoid arthritis, which is caused by allergy. However, The pill that I've recommended works for both. Good luck.

What happens in a personal injury cases if unknown to the injured party they had pre-existing arthritis ?
Q. If someone is injured in an accident and they are told by doctors that they might of had arthritis lying dormant, and the accident started the process, how does this stand up in a court of law??
aged 25 when accident happened.

A. In PI claims this may be known as acceleration or aggravation.
The parties will call upon an expert rheumatologist to clarify the issue.
He may make one of several prognoses:
1. The arthritis would have happened anyway but has been brought forward by the impact;
2. the arthritis was 'dormant' and but for the accident would never have become symptomatic.
3. the arthritis is as a direct consequence of the accident and would not have happened otherwise.

It's Impact upon the claim depends on the Impact of the injuries. Do they prevent the person working? Do they result in his retiring earlier than usual? Is the arthritis so serious (or will it become so serious) that it will interfere with work?

The aggravation or acceleration of previously asymptomatic conditions is a very common issue in PI claims; it simply affects the overall award of damages but the principal impact (if any) is upon special damages, not general damages.

How do I clear up my Acne and Blackheads fast?

Q. Im 15 so i know im going to get a few, and in all fairness i have not got that many but like most people i just want them GONE! Does anyone know any home remedies that i can use?

A. Hello,

How to Get Rid of Acne:

Lemon Juice
Rub fresh lemon juice on your pimples with a gentle hand. The bleaching properties of lemon juice lighten the skin and thus reduce its appearance. Moreover, it removes the topmost layer of the skin surface where bacteria grows and controls the infection. Thus the healthy underlying skin is revealed. If you hesitate to use concentrated lemon juice on the pimple as you fear it may cause skin irritation, then you can dilute it with rose water.

Application of Ice
This is an easy way to get rid of pimples overnight. You have to pack up some crushed ice in an aluminum foil in order to prevent them from getting melted quickly. Then put it inside a plastic bag and wrap up the pack with a thin towel. Now apply it over the pimples for 10 to 15 minutes. This will shrink the pores forcing the oil and dirt out of it. When the two main culprits are out, you can expect the pimple to clear up in no time.

Toothpaste
You can get rid of pimples overnight using toothpaste. Many people find it highly beneficial for this purpose. Take some toothpaste on the tip of your finger and apply it on the pimple in such a way that the entire pimple is covered up with the toothpaste properly. Leave it on the pimple overnight. Next morning when you wash it off with warm water, you will be pleasantly surprised with the result. The trick is that the toothpaste absorb all the oil from the pimple and reduce its size so much that it becomes invisible. However, a toothpaste with gel content is not suitable for this treatment.

Baking Soda
Baking soda is considered as one of the best home remedies for getting rid of pimples overnight. Prepare a thick paste using one cup of baking soda, 3 tablespoons of salt and some water. Rub this paste gently over the affected areas of your face making small circular motions. Leave it on the acne for few minutes and then wash your face with cool water. The exfoliant property of the salt removes the dead skin cells from the pores. The baking soda soften up the skin and restore the normal pH balance of the skin. As a result, the pimple clears up fast.

Egg Mask
A simple egg mask can help you in getting rid of pimples from your face. Take one or two eggs as per your requirement. Break them and separate the white portion of the eggs from the yolk. It is the egg white that you need to apply as facial mask on your face. Keep it on the face overnight and then wash off with cold water.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is known for its healing and disinfecting properties. To apply it, start with washing the face thoroughly with an antibacterial soap. Pat dry with a towel and then taking a cotton ball apply apple cider vinegar evenly on the affected skin. Leave on for fifteen minutes before washing it off with cold water.

Steam and Clean
In the very initial stages of acne when it is still a small zit or just in the form of whitehead and blackhead you can try doing this. Clean your face with cleansing milk using cotton pads. Now scrub it with a gentle face scrub. Take steam on your face for about 8-10 minutes. Now take a sterilized blackhead remover and clean the blackheads and whiteheads. You can also try squeezing pimples if they are very small. Use a clean cotton pad to clean the pus or blood that flows out. Now finish by cleaning the area with an antiseptic lotion or a toner. This procedure will help keep your skin clean and avoid further acne breakouts. Following this everyday before going to bed is one of the easiest ways to get rid of acne fast at home.

Acne Prevention Tips

â¢Do not touch the skin areas which are affected by acne with your fingers, as it can spread the infection to other skin areas as well.
â¢Maintain hygiene i.e., use clean bed sheets, pillow cases and towels. Dirty towels can be the breeding ground of germs and bacteria, thereby causing severe cases of acne breakouts.
â¢Dandruff and oil in hair can cause acne too, so to prevent that, avoid doing such hair styles which make your hair touch or fall on your face.
â¢Exercise everyday as it helps in proper blood circulation, and adequate transfer of oxygen to all the body cells. Exercising will help in both reducing stress and preventing acne.
â¢Take shower after undertaking any kind of exercise or physical activity to prevent dirt and sweat from getting accumulated in the skin pores.
â¢Drink lots of fluids and water as it will help in elimination of wastes and toxins from the body, resulting in a blemish free, glowing skin.

Take care! Mama Bear

What's the difference between gout and arthritis?

Q. Could someone please explain the main difference(s) between Gout and Arthritis. My late father had Gout, which mainly affected his knees, and was always getting grouchy when people claimed he was arthritic, saying it was totally different.

Also, as his 27 year old son, I am concerned that I am going to get it, or already have gout. Bearing in mind that my father never drank port, or any of the other cliches, any suggestions as to how I could put it off as long as possible?

A. An Uncle (by marriage) had gout. It would swell up in his feet
and some days he had to stay in bed because it was so bad.
He came from a well-to-do family, so it may have something
to do with it. He ate and drank well all his life, and loved
kidneys, oxtail, pigs trotters etc. If you refrain from doing
what my Uncle did, you should be OK.

Arthritis is the cartilage wearing away. A lot of people have
it, and they mostly have it in their arms, tho' some have it
in their legs.

What are the symptoms and causes af gout?
Q. I have some serious pain in my big toe but it doesn't seem that swollen, Also I do suffer from acute arthritis but the pain seems different than that. Any help or info would be appreciated
Thanks.

A. Does it feel so painful that you would think it was broken?
My arthritis turned out to be gout and was only diagnosed when I went to a GP on holiday! He took one look and said "That's gout go and see my nurse and get a blood test"
It was positive.
I was astounded!
He gave me a prescription for Allopurinol and I've taken it ever since.
I'm teetotal and steer clear of purines
It doesn't necessarily come from your diet-your body is producing the uric acid itself.

How do you get rid of stubborn acne and pimples?

Q. I've had these skin problems for years, used everything possible, but still cant get rid of them.

A. go see a dermatologist

How can i get rid of acne overnight?
Q. I have had clear skin all year but suddenly now my skin decides to break out. I have pimples all over my forehead, cheeks, and chin. What makes it worse is that prom is TOMORROW. Is there any way i can get rid of my pimples overnight? I have heard of toothpaste, honey, and aspirin, but im not sure which method is the most effective.

A. Many people want to know how to cure acne overnight. Is this really possible? Yes! But there is a catch - your acne condition must be very light. By the word "light" here, I mean your skin has very minimal number of zits and your acne does not cause severe swelling and redness. If your acne is not in this category, I am sorry to say there is no overnight acne cure for your condition. Check what you can do in just ONE day to get rid of your acne.

In the Morning drink at least 1-2 glasses of water. This will detoxify and flush those unwanted toxins out from your body. Wash your face with a suitable cleanser. After that you should use tea tree oil on your skin. Doing so will kill most of the bacteria that cause acne.

During The Afternoon and Evening your skin will feel extremely oily. Your sweat can cause the bacterias to infect your skin so make sure you wipe your skin regularly with a clean piece of towel or tissue. During the tea breaks you need to apply some tea tree oil on your skin.

In order to cure acne overnight, you have to make sure you take advantage of your night time. This is because your skin absorbs the active ingredients of beauty products more effortlessly than during the day. At night there are also no harmful UV rays that can slowly destroy your skin texture.

Now these powerful and effective tips will definitely help you clear up your acne and skin in just a few days time. But what if there is a better more miraculous system that can really help you get rid of acne quickly and more important permanently?

As someone who has gone through all the years of suffering I'm sure you will benefit a lot from this effective acne solution. Check it out: http://acne.fat-master.com All the best on your way to a beautiful acne free body.

Is it true that liquorice is bad for people with gout?

Q. Sure I read somewhere that liquorice is bad for people who suffer from attacks of gout?
Trying to find out if the liquorice makes gout worse not as a remedy. Answers to this question are the opposite.

A. Licorice is sometimes used for osteoarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), liver disorders, malaria, tuberculosis, food poisoning, and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).

Licorice interacts with many prescription medicines. Talk to your healthcare provider if you plan to start using licorice.

Does anyone know of a good cure for gout?
Q. My dad has gout, and suffers quite a bit in his toes and his hands. He has had kidney failure in the past and is on meds for heart probs... he was hoping for a more natural remedy and any suggestions would be helpful.

A. There is no cure for gout. Generally speaking a short course of an anti-inflammatory painkillers will usually ease the pain quite quickly. Is your dad overweight?

Losing weight helps as does eating a healthy diet and cutting back on alcohol. He should also try and reduce sugar in is diet too. Your husband must also avoid dehydration and unless there is a medical reason not to do so, drink about 2 litres of water daily.

The other things that help are if he can, elevate his legs while laying on the sofa and then using an ice pack, hold it against the inflamed joint. This may ease the pain. Make sure you wrap the ice pack in a towel to avoid direct skin contact. Only do this for about 20 minutes, then stop. This should not be done for long periods of time at once. Also make sure the temperature of the affected part has returned to normal before applying again.

As I said before, NSAIDs like Diclofenac usually help (if no GI issue). If your dad can't tolerate any NSAIDs for certain reasons, then Colchicine is an alternative medicine that might help. Steroid tablets or injections can also reduce pain and inflammation, but should generally be avoided if possible.

If he is in a lot of discomfort, he should see his GP again. If gout keeps reoccurring then taking Allopurinol daily will prevent attacks. Allopurinol will not have any effect during a gout attack though. Allopurinol basically works by It works by reducing level of uric acid in the blood. It takes a few months to work. It's more of a preventative measure.

What is the difference between cholesterol and fat?

Q. I know that fat is broken down into fatty acids and glycerol and that the fatty acids are transported by lipoproteins but isn't cholesterol also transported by them too. They're both lipids but where do they differ?

A. They are both lipids, but "lipid" is a pretty broad term that includes a variety of hydrophobic organic molecules produced by living organisms. Members of the other major classes of biological moleculesâproteins, nucleic acids and carbohydratesâare united by similar chemical structures, but that is not the case for lipids. Fats are either fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives, like triglycerides, and are characterized by long hydrocarbon chains, which give them their hydrophobic quality, and a polar carboxylic acid "head" group which can react to form esters (like with glycerol) and other structures. In general, "fat" refers to triglycerides (fatty acid chains + glycerol), but "fat" could also refer to individual fatty acids. Fatty acids are a group of molecules that differ in the length of the hydrocarbon chain and the presence/absence and position of double bonds. Cholesterol, on the other hand, is a single molecule with a very different chemical structure from the fatty acids. Cholesterol's main structural feature us four hydrocarbon rings. Take a look at these drawings of the molecular structure of cholesterol and myristic acid, a fatty acid:
Cholesterol - http://www.karllorenlibrary.com/uploads/440px-Cholesterol.svg.png
Myristic acid - http://www.lookchem.com/keyimages//2009-11/0f59146a-43bd-4a10-87ab-d860094108aa.gif
Even if you are not familiar with the way that chemists represent molecules and exactly what these drawings mean, you can see that they are very different.

The biological functions of cholesterol and fats are also different. Fats are primarily used for energy storage and metabolism. When you eat more calories than you need, fats are efficient molecules for storing this excess energy for the future. Fats are broken down and energy is released when our bodies need more power, although our bodies preferentially burn carbohydrates for energy before dipping into our fat stores. Fatty acids do play many other roles in biology, but fats and oils (usually) specifically refer to glycerol esters of fatty acids, which are basically fatty acids linked to glycerol. The main role of fats and oils is in energy metabolism and nutrition.

Cholesterol has many different biological roles. It is a component of cell membranes, where it gives them increased rigidity; in other words, cholesterol helps maintain the shape of the cell membrane, making it less flexible. Phospholipids, the main component of membranes, also contain fatty acid chains, and these are relatively long and flexible molecules, but cholesterol is much less flexible because of its ring structure, and the more cholesterol molecules you stick in the cell membrane, the better able it is to hold its shape. Organisms that live in very high temperatures often have more cholesterol and similar molecules in their cell membranes, to prevent them from melting and spilling open the contents of the cell. Cholesterol is also part of bile, where it aids in the breakdown of fats, and is a precursor to many important biological molecules like vitamin D and testosterone.

You are correct that cholesterol and fatty acids are both transported by lipoproteins, but because "lipid" is such a broad category of molecules, so is "lipoprotein." Lipoproteins are proteins that transport lipids, but lipids are diverse and even the same lipid have multiple functions, and different proteins may carry the same lipid to different parts of the body for different purposes.

For more detail, go to your biology textbook first. A general/introductory biology text may not have a lot of detail on cholesterol, but it should describe the general structure and function of fats (triglycerides) and fatty acids. The Wikipedia articles on lipid, fat, oil, cholesterol and lipoprotein also have more info, and a web search for these words will also provide a lot more information.

How does cholesterol effect low thyroid function?
Q. What is the relationship between the two?
I can't find any clear answers on this?

A. Some years ago, and before being diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, I had been tested for cholesterol and was within the 'safe' zone. I did a re-test about a year ago (after diagnosis) and was shocked to discover that my cholesterol levels were above the accepted levels even though I lead a healthy lifestyle and eat very little red meat or fat. I started to do some research on the internet and discovered, mainly on American sites, that next to a bad diet, thyroid problems are the next biggest cause of raised cholesterol levels.

I can't explain why, medically, but it would just seem that there is a clear link between the two since I was fine before my thyroid condition and now have a raised level even though I have not changed my diet or lifestyle.

I have psoriatic arthritis and take prednisolone. What are the long term effects of taking prednisolone?

Q. I am slightly concerned about long term use of the drug prednisolone, prescribed for arthritis. Also how my condition may develop in future. I have psoriatic arthritis.

A. The longer you take it and the higher the dose generally the more side effects.
Fluid weight gain can be a problem around the stomach, back of neck and rounding of the face.
It can make your skin thinner - hence bruise easier.
Also can deplete bone density - more of a concern for women.
Can also make you very awake, kind of hyper feeling.
It is a widely used drug, and not much negative feedback.

What can you do for a dog with signs of arthritis?
Q. My dog hurt her hip and the vet has said after an xray that she is showing deterieration in her hip. She is a lab collie cross and 7 years old. I have started giving her some olive oil with her food which I have been told is good. Any other ideas to help her joints?

A. Glucosimine/chrondroitin has done alot of good for my dog but call your vet as it must be given by weight to be effective.Regular adult strength Bayer aspirin for pain but again has to be given by weight and only for a couple of days so use your best judgement.
Exercise daily!Let the dog do what it will without trying to push it.But you have to get the dog up and moving to loosen those joints and keep them from getting stiff.
Set a heating pad on medium and lay across hips for 10 minutes at a time do this 2-3 times a day especially during cold weather months.
And if you can get the dog in water.Swimming is the best exercise for arthritic dogs.Water holds the animal up and takes weight off the joints.
If that's not do-able and you have the time to clean the mess then go get one of those things that hang over the side of the bathtub to turn a regular bath into a whirlpool.Forget what they're called.
Fill the tub with warm water and get the dog to sit in it with that aimed across it's hips.
My dog has arthritis in hips and 1 front leg.I also have osteoarthritis in both feet and ankles.
I've done everything except the tub thing. But my dogs have their own swimming pool {cattle trough} which has been huge help.
I have a friend that's done the tub thing with good result it's just a pain to clean up after.
Another thing I do that really seems appreciated is to give butt rubs.Massage the hips for at least 10 minutes 3 times a day.My dogs gotten to where he comes and leans his rear end on me when he wants a rub.
I'm lucky the sense that I know when he's hurting before he shows signs of it cos I'm hurting and can start giving extra care so it won't be so bad.
Cold weather, rain and seasonal changes all make it flair up.

what changes are indicated in the blood to confirm that gout is present?
Q. Does anyone know exactly what the levels and changes in blood represent that gout is present .

If changes in the blood indicate that gout is present what should be taken to change these levels ?

A. Im not a doctor, but i think gout is diagnosed by the presence of uric acid in the blood,i also know that uric acid is in meat,so cutting down meat would probably be beneficial, and gout also seems to be asociated with a diet high in rich foods.
My father takes allipuronal for his gout, but there might be other drugs used to lower uric acid in the blood.
Dont know if these tablets work by breaking the uric acid down so the body can expell it.
You really need the question answered by a doctor.

should i start on a course of colchicine to treat my gout?

Q. the side effects sound horrendous!

A. The first treatment should be pain relief. Once the diagnosis has been confirmed, the drugs of choice are Indometacin, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or intra-articular glucocorticoids, administered via a joint injection.

Colchicine was previously the drug of choice in acute attacks of gout. It impairs the motility of granulocytes and can prevent the inflammatory phenomena that initiate an attack of gout. Colchicine should be taken within the first 12 hours of the attack and usually relieves the pain within 48 hours. Its main side-effects (gastrointestinal upset) can complicate its use. NSAIDs are the preferred form of analgesia for patients with gout.

Before medical help is available, some over the counter medication can provide temporary relief to the pain and swelling. NSAIDs such as ibuprofen can reduce the pain and inflammation slightly, although aspirin should not be used as it can worsen the condition. Preparation H hemorrhoidal ointment can be applied to the swollen skin to reduce the swelling temporarily. Professional medical care is needed for long term management of gout.

get rid of acne scars

This is a homemade treatment methods I conclude by searching online.

http://www.guidehi.com/?p=54
The following are the ingredients what you need.
- Honey ( for more smooth. Lemon to clean even more, or Bio Yogurt to soothe)
- Sugar ( releases glycolic acid which is a natural hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin. And freshly exfoliated skin tends to have a healthy glow. Skin looks softer and smoother. )
- Green Tea ( anti oxidant that delays aging, fights acne, oil control )

Now take the following simple steps.
1. Make yourself one third glass of green tea and set that aside for 2 minutes till it is warm, but donât add cold water because you want the powers of the green tea to come out.
2. Get yourself three tablespoons of sugar in a separate glass and mix it in with the green tea, remember, the tea is warm NOT hot .
3. Add in either lemon juice, bio yogurt,or honey.
4. Put a reasonable amount on your face, and start to lightly scrubbing because the sugar hasnât dissolved, it works as an exfoliator. Do it just for 1-2 minutes
5. Using a cotton pad, whip your face with green tea.( just a little green tea)
6. Now wash your face with WARM water, and clearly.
7. Pat dry

How do I get rid of acne scars on my face immediately?
Q. I have a problem with acne scars on my face.

I have thought of concealing them using a concealer also using facial scrubs by Clearasil, and also thought about using foundation.

Which of my suggestions are best to use - or neither?

A. Hi, there are some natural beauty oils that will help fade acne scars, but i am afraid that there is no overnight remedy. It will take several weeks of consistent use (2-3 times a day) before you will see evident changes to your scarring.

I recommend Jojoba Oil which is rich in Vitamin E which helps heal and fade scarring. Jojoba Oil is suitable for all skin types as it regulates sebum production and moisturises dry areas too. Give it at least two weeks before you expect to see any changes to your scars, however you will notice your skin become soft and supple within days! After four weeks you will definitely see your acne scars and pitting smoothe out and become paler.

Another great beauty oil is Rose Mosqueta (Rosehip Oil) which repairs sun damaged skin and heals scarring. Rosa Mosqueta Oil is best avoided if you have active acne and is more expensive than Jojoba Oil

Remember to be consistent and use the product for at least TWO MONTHS to get the full benefits. Then you will see obvious changes to your skin!

Best of luck :-)

At night there are also no harmful UV rays that can slowly destroy your skin texture.

what changes are indicated in the blood to confirm that gout is present?

What are the best remedies for Gout?
Q. I would like to know what are the best remedies for gout? Not involving drugs. My other half suffers from gout in his leg and sometimes ends up limping.

A. Gout is a common type of arthritis that occurs when an excessive amount of uric acid in the blood, tissues and urine crystallizes in the joints. People who have gout are unable to break down and excrete uric acid, a byproduct of digesting certain foods. It usually comes on suddenly, and can last from a few hours to several days. It can cause extremely sore toes or other areas of the foot, and because it frequently manifests itself in the big toe, it is also known as "gouty big toe". Another name is "gouty arthritis". Gout can also appear in an ear, heel of the hand, small hand joints, ankles, knees, elbows, or wrists with inflammation, swelling and intense pain from the buildup of uric acid crystals. Uric acid is the end product of the metabolism of a class of chemicals known as purines. In people with gout, the body does not have enough of the digestive enzyme uricase, and, as a result, uric acid builds up and crystallizes. Left uncontrolled, excessive excretion of uric acid in the urine can lead to the development of painful kidney stones, kidney disease, and even kidney failure.

Gout is associated with high blood pressure, kidney disease, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and uric acid kidney stones.

It is estimated that up to 2 million people have gout. Between 75-90% of gout sufferers are middle-aged males and 25% have family members with it. In women, uric acid starts building up after menopause, quite possibly due to the drop in estrogen.

Remedies
Folk
Alfalfa is a good source of minerals and other nutrients that help reduce serum uric acid.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) Add some rose hips to vinegar and boil; dab on affected area. You may need to apply this mixture several times a day for a few weeks. The vinegar changes the blood pH so that the crystals will go into solution and be excreted.

⢠Mix two teaspoons each of apple cider vinegar and raw honey in a glass of water and drink at mealtime.

⢠Soak the foot in a mixture of 1/2 cup of ACV and three cups of hot water.

Bilberry is high in anthocyanosides and flavonoids, which are helpful in overcoming gout.

Black cherry juice Get some natural, concentrated black cherry juice and drink several tablespoons of the concentrate daily. You should expect relief in 48 hours.

Black cohash moderates blood acidity.

Blueberries are high in anti-inflammatory compounds called anthocyanins, which help ease the pain of gout.

Buchu tea helps dissolve and flush out uric acid crystals.

Castor oil packs Soak a piece of white flannel in warm castor oil, wring it out and place over the affected area; cover with plastic wrap and apply a heating pad. Do this for one hour twice daily.

Cayenne pepper Boil one tablespoon of pepper in 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water and dab onto the painful joint.

⢠Mix cayenne with enough wintergreen oil to make a paste and apply to the affected area.

Celery seeds These seeds are quite effective in relieving gout by eliminating uric acid from the body. According to James Duke, Ph.D., a medical botanist formerly with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, celery seeds contain about twenty different anti-inflammatory agents. Although there is little scientific research on celery seeds, according to Kerry Bone, a leading expert on herbal remedies in Australia, "it (sic) works brilliantly in patients." Recommended dosage is 500 mg (standardized to 450 mg of celery seed extract) 2x daily. Note: This remedy is not to be used by pregnant women because of its diuretic effect and the fact that it can encourage uterine contractions, or those with kidney disease because of its potential diuretic effect and that the plant's oils can worsen kidney inflammation.

⢠Cook a tablespoon of celery seeds in two cups of water until they are soft; strain and drink 1/2 cup four times a day.

Charcoal Take 1/2 -1 teaspoon of activated charcoal daily.

⢠Make a poultice using cup of activated charcoal, 3 tablespoons of ground flaxseed and warm water to draw out the toxins.

Cherries If you are lucky enough to have fresh cherries, eating 6-8 cherries daily will relieve the symptoms of gout. This remedy was reported in 1950 by Dr. Ludwig W. Blau who cured his own gout. Frozen and canned cherries may also be used. When you feel an attack coming on, eat 20-30 cherries immediately. Cherries are rich in compounds that prevent the destruction of collagen, which the body uses to form connective tissue. The connective tissue is damaged by gout. Cherries also have an enzyme that neutralizes uric acid and are high in anthocyanins which have high antioxidant properties as well as anti-inflammatory action. For greatest effectiveness eat them between meals.

Devil's claw reduces uric acid levels and is a natural cleansing agent for toxic impurities. Take 400 mg of the dried extract 3x a day for as long as desired.

DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide) is very effective in relieving pain and swelling caused by inflammation. It helps dissolve crystalline deposits.

Garlic Eat several cloves of raw garlic daily. Mince the garlic and add it to black cherry juice for a potent remedy.

Ginger Put 1/3 cup of ground ginger (buy in bulk to keep the cost down) in a bathtub of water and soak for 30 minutes. This will cause you to sweat (a good thing) which will help eliminate the uric acid from your tissues. When you are finished the bath be sure to rinse off thoroughly, as the ginger can cause skin irritation if it dries on your skin.

Grapes are high in alkalines which lessen the acidity of uric acid and aid in its elimination from the body.

Hawthorn is high in anthocyanosides and flavonoids, which are helpful in overcoming gout.

Hydrangea is an anti-inflammatory.

Ice Apply an ice pack for ten minutes, then alternate with a moist hot-towel compress, to soothe and numb the pain.

Mullein Soak mullein leaves in a hot vinegar/water mixture. Pack the leaves on the affected area.

Nettle contains alkaloids which neutralize uric acid.

Parsley acts as a natural diuretic.

Quercetin The flavonoid quercetin inhibits uric acid production in a similar fashion to commonly prescribed drugs for gout. Take 1000 mg of quercetin along with 1,000-1,500 mg of the enzyme bromelain (to enhance absorption) two to three times daily between meals. Bromelain also help reduce the inflammation.

Red clover has traditionally been one of the standard remedies for gout, as well as removing toxins from the body, and treating psoriasis, eczema, and hot flashes. Studies have shown that red clover may thin the blood, so it should not be used by patients who are also taking an anticoagulant medication. While red clover is high in isoflavones, the reason it is helpful in treating gout has not been studied.

Saffron neutralizes uric acid buildup.

Spearmint Make a poultice of spearmint leaves and wrap the affected area.

Strawberries Eating a cup of strawberries with each meal should bring quick relief. They neutralize uric acid.

Yarrow Make a tea by using equal parts of yarrow and stinging nettles; strain, cool and drink several cups a day.

Prevention
⢠One of the best ways to prevent gout is to drink at least 6-8 eight ounce glasses of water, fresh juices or herb tea daily, especially at the first signs of gout. This will keep your urine diluted and will help your body excrete uric acid and prevent crystals from forming.

⢠Eat foods high in potassium, as mentioned above.

⢠Eating generous amounts of other fruits and vegetables helps keep uric acid crystals in solution.

⢠Take the flavonoid quercetin - see below under Folk Remedies. This should be part of your permanent gout-prevention diet.

⢠Having sex prevents men from getting gout. It seems that increased sexual activity reduces uric acid levels in fertile men.

⢠Lemon juice prevents gout attacks by stimulating the formation of calcium carbonate in the body. Calcium carbonate neutralizes acids in the body, including uric acid that triggers gout attacks. After each meal drink the juice of one freshly squeezed lemon in a glass of lukewarm water. To get more juice out of the lemon, bring it to room temperature, then roll it around on the counter with the palm of your hand.

⢠Taking 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with meals will prevent gout attacks. This will help alkalize the body.

⢠Keep the leg elevated.

⢠A high fiber diet also aids in the elimination of uric acid by absorbing bile acids formed in the liver. These bile acids can act as a precursor to uric acid.

Foods and Other Things to Avoid
⢠Meat: organ meats, offal, meat extracts, veal, bacon, sweetbreads, meat gravies and broths, consommé/bullion

⢠Poultry: turkey, goose

⢠Seafood: salmon, mackerel, trout, cod, herring, sardines, anchovies, mussels, crab, shrimp

⢠Vegetables: peas, beans, lentils, asparagus, mushrooms, cooked spinach, rhubarb, cauliflower

⢠Yeast products: baked goods, beer

⢠Alcohol - it increases the production of uric acid and inhibits its excretion by the kidneys

⢠Coffee - it accelerates the breakdown of protein into uric acid

⢠All fried foods - they cause a depletion of vitamin E, which can cause uric acid to rise

⢠Cream and ice cream

⢠Rich desserts

⢠Spices

⢠Pastries

⢠Simple sugars, simple carbohydrates and saturated fats - they increase your body's production of uric acid and impair your kidneys' ability to get rid of it. Eliminate fructose (found in food and drinks, like sodas)

⢠White flour

⢠Aspirin can raise uric acid levels. If you need to use pain killers, only use ones with ibuprofen.

⢠Oatmeal

⢠Whole grains

⢠Caffeine - it impairs kidney function, which is needed to get uric acid out of the body.

HOPE THAT HELPS!

How likely is it that a child will inherit diabetes and arthritis?

Heart murmurs, if a family trait then those too. However in these times none of these are live threatening as long you take medical help

I suffer from Gout ! Does anyone have a list of all the foodstuffs I should avoid which contain purine Thanks?

Q. I do not wish to go to my doctors and down the pill-popping road as I know to my regret what side effects can do to a person. I am also very old and cannot afford to buy all the pricey cures on sale on the internet.Thank you all so much for your help.

A. Patients with few episodes do not need to be on any regular medication. There are no cures at all, and I do wonder why you consider trawling the internet rather than chatting to your GP and why you think anything you might buy there is likely to be safer and more likely to work that proven and tested conventional therapy.

1. The arthritis would have happened anyway but has been brought forward by the impact;
2. the arthritis was 'dormant' and but for the accident would never have become symptomatic.
3. the arthritis is as a direct consequence of the accident and would not have happened otherwise.

What happens to the cholesterol that builds up in your arteries ?

Q. Does it stay there for ever or can you get rid of it?
Ok, thanks but I just wanted to know. Cholesterol doesn't matter to me right now, I'm still under 18.

A. It is not really possible to get rid of it. Very high doses of statins bringing cholesterol levels down to 1 mmole have been shown to marginally reduce the level of pre-existing plaque, but this is not conventionally done. There was also a drug produced that was flushed through the system to attempt to dissolve plaque, this also did not appear to be very successful.

What is the best home remedy for gout pain my right and left feet?

Q. Please be serious and no spam and follow yahoo guidelines, because I do report. Thank you.

A. I would go to the doctor first off, to make sure it is gout you have, and to check how to deal with it. When my grandmother had gout, she was told to eat an iodine restricted diet - no red meat, no shellfish, limited dairy. Your doctor can guide you in how best to deal with this problem.

What was a popular case of gout that was actually beneficial?
Q. Nothing can be that bad ALL of the time, can it?

A. According to Dr Jimmy Gutman gout is a painful form of arthritis. It is an indicator of a lowered immune system.

How can pain, inflammation and lowered immune system be beneficial?

It is also an indication of dietary deficiencies resulting in lowered glutathione levels. Boost your glutathione and you decrease the symptoms.

what is the best way to control gout problem?
Q. I know the drugs used to cure accute attack and to lower uric acid, but I really need to know the food that must be avoided since there are many versions (about the food). What is the suggested diet for gout patients.

A. What Should You Eat when you are diagnosed with gout?

Dietary restrictions suggest what people should not eat, but what should people eat? What foods will help control gout attacks? The American Medical Association recommends the following dietary guidelines for people with gout, advising them to eat a diet:

high in complex carbohydrates (fiber-rich whole grains, fruits, and vegetables)

low in protein (15% of calories and sources should be soy, lean meats, or poultry)

no more than 30% of calories in fat (with only 10% animal fats)

Recommended Foods To Eat:

Fresh cherries, strawberries, blueberries, and other red-blue berries
Bananas
Celery
Tomatoes
Vegetables including kale, cabbage, parsley, green-leafy vegetables
Foods high in bromelain (pineapple)
Foods high in vitamin C (red cabbage, red bell peppers, tangerines, mandarins, oranges, potatoes)
Drink fruit juices and purified water (8 glasses of water per day)
Low-fat dairy products
Complex carbohydrates (breads, cereals, pasta, rice, as well as aforementioned vegetables and fruits)
Chocolate, cocoa
Coffee, tea
Carbonated beverages
Essential fatty acids (tuna and salmon, flaxseed, nuts, seeds)
Tofu, although a legume and made from soybeans, may be a better choice than meat

Foods considered moderately high in purines but which may not raise the risk of gout include: asparagus, cauliflower, mushrooms, peas, spinach, whole grain breads and cereals, chicken, duck, ham, turkey, kidney and lima beans. It is important to remember that purines are found in all protein foods. All sources of purines should not be eliminated.

How much cholesterol is in egg whites as opposed to the yolks?

Q. One of my co-workers told me that there are equal amounts of cholesterol in both the white and the yolk.

I told her that wasn't true because the yolk is what has all the calories, fat, and cholesterol in it, so I'm doing a good thing by eating egg white omelettes, as opposed to regular ones that include the yolk.

Or am I? Who's right?

A. Your coworker is an idiot. There is zero cholesterol in the white.

But the yolk has good stuff, too, like iron and omega fatty acids, so don't skip it all the time.

How much cholesterol should the average person allow in their diet a day?
Q. Also my Cholesterol is 225, does that mean I should have less than the average person? How much is the right amount?
They did not tell me what my good cholesterol vs my bad cholesterol is but im concerned with how much intake I should allow.

A. Hi MaggieMay,

Itâs currently recommended, for individuals with normal cholesterol levels, to limit dietary cholesterol intake to 300 mg or less daily. If you have high LDL cholesterol, the current recommendations are to limit dietary cholesterol to 200 mg or less per day.

Why is cholesterol important for your health and the function of your body?
Q. Why is cholesterol important for your health and the function of your body? Is cholesterol in your diet really that bad?

A. Cholesterol doesn't make you fat or anything, but it contributes to heart disease in the future. If you have a high cholesterol, you have a high chance of heart disease. To prevent this, try eating mono-unsaturated fats, and poly-unsaturated fats. These are good fats that lower bad cholesterol, and increase your good cholesterol. Sources of mono and poly unsaturated fats are nuts - almonds, pecans, peanuts, and walnuts, and cooking oil, lol.

Is is possible for arthritis to be caused by a injury that caused a bacterial infection?

Q. My husband had a knife barely nip his knee while at work and within hours it caused a really bad bacterial infection and was treated with anitibiotics. He was very healthy until the injury and week after the accident he started to have pain in the are where he was injured and it is slowly spreading throughout his body. He has been consulting with a Specialist however I want to make sure this is not work related.
He has been seeing a Rhemotologist however my concern is that this was caused by the injury as he was very much healthy prior to the injury.

A. yes, it is possible to have arthritis after a joint (knee) infection. it is called septic arthritis where the infection and the inflammatory process that comes along with it destoy the cartilage (arthritis is loss of cartilage).

however, in your husband's case, it would be farily unlikely. the initial knife injury has to be fairly deep, so it would enter the knee joint (not just cutting some superficial tissue). but...if the infection in the superficial tissue got very very bad, it can potentially enter the knee joint and create a septic joint.

a septic joint/knee is very painful and painful to move. and for the most part would require surgical treatment as antibiotics, even IV, just don't get into the joint that well. most doctors, even non orthopedists, should be able to recognize it easily.

i suppose that the infection could have been blood borne and started to seed multiple joints; but again less likely and he would have gotten pretty sick (septic).

therefore...when multiple joints are involved, we get the rheumatologist involved. there is wide spectrum to rheumatological processes and many of them can cause multiple joint pain.

good luck

How bad does my arthritis have to get before I can claim disability?
Q. I have osteoarthritis in my neck, lower back, wrists and ankles. I take prescription anti inflamitories and muscle relaxers in order to go to work. I work 10 hrs a day on my feet constantly moving, stretching and bending. While this movement is good for my arthritis, it can get really painful by the end of the day. I feel like I am up a creek without a paddle most of the time, especially after a 3 day workout. Then I just totally crash. I am tired of waking up with swollen hands, having a crick in my back and limping for a while after sitting down for 30 minutes.

A. yes speak with ur doctor,,,or a good doctor.Every state has different laws in regards to disability..Every lawyer wants u on disability,,thats how the disability lawyers get paid,,and they can streach it out 4 years,,,the longer they streach it the more of the back pay they owe u,,they get...plus the system is sooo screwed,,people get on it that dont need it and then they get jobs under the table,,proving that they can work..
If u need on disability,,find out what doctors works with what lawyers....The two have to have a Very good realationship...request for specialist and leave a good paper trail in regards of ur problem,,,ur state will be looking at the trail more than what u say...u need a good family doctor and several specialist that are willing to work together,,,good luck.

What is the best Arthritis medicine that you have taken or witnessed effectiveness?
Q. My husband has very bad arthrtis and need to know what medicine is best and if i can purchase online
Thanks in advance!

A. After trying to get around with horrible pain from Arthritis, I went to the Health food store and found a lady that had the answer for me.

She told me to take 6,000.milligrams of OMEGA THREE FISH OIL.
I bought the 1,000 mill, oil gels, and started taking six every morning about one hour before breakfast. Within a week, I could not believe that I was totally pain free, It was a natural way to feel good again.
It works wonders for me. I have shared this with a lot of people that suffer with the same thing, and they are amazed at the results they get.
Take a trip to your neighborhood health food store. You'll be glad you did.
Best of luck

Can I use acne scar medicine along with my regular acne treatment?
Q. I use Acne Free on a daily basis for a face wash treatment. I've noticed that it doesn't get rid of my acne scars, though. I looked up some easy home remedies to get rid of acne scars (the one I'd like to try is a baking soda + water mixture). Can I use both Acne Free and the baking soda mixture on a daily basis? Or will that be too much for my skin to handle?

A. yes is good to heal pimples fast

How much Cholesterol should you be taking in every day?

Q. I started reading food labels, and I noticed there's a line called Cholesterol with a number in mg's. How many mg's or what is the total amount of cholesterol per day that is recommended for a 20 something female? Thanks.

A. Officially, experts say you shouldn't have over 300mg (based on a 2,000 calorie diet). I tend to think that's a little high and try to not go over half that. It really depends on your age and activity level. Maybe the link below will help a little more.

A. yes, it is possible to have arthritis after a joint (knee) infection. it is called septic arthritis where the infection and the inflammatory process that comes along with it destoy the cartilage (arthritis is loss of cartilage).

however, in your husband's case, it would be farily unlikely. the initial knife injury has to be fairly deep, so it would enter the knee joint (not just cutting some superficial tissue). but...if the infection in the superficial tissue got very very bad, it can potentially enter the knee joint and create a septic joint.

a septic joint/knee is very painful and painful to move. and for the most part would require surgical treatment as antibiotics, even IV, just don't get into the joint that well. most doctors, even non orthopedists, should be able to recognize it easily.

i suppose that the infection could have been blood borne and started to seed multiple joints; but again less likely and he would have gotten pretty sick (septic).

therefore...when multiple joints are involved, we get the rheumatologist involved. there is wide spectrum to rheumatological processes and many of them can cause multiple joint pain.

good luck
